The most expensive change in a project is altering a junction after the finish has been chosen. So we reverse the order.
We draw the detail at 1:5 and decide where it ends. With no skirting, how the wall meets the floor is a decision rather than a consequence. Material is not discussed until that decision is made.
On site this means one thing: the joiner is not solving a junction for the first time in place. They are building one that has already been solved on paper.
